HEAL OUR LAND

Winning Wisdom With David Adeoye|

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sins and HEAL THEIR LAND” (2 Chro. 7:14).

“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.” The Lord owns all the nations of the earth. He rules in the affairs of the nations of the earth (Dan. 5:21). He has the ability to turn the economic situation of any country around; Nigeria inclusive. No matter how bad the situation of any country is, our God is able to bring positive change and heal that land of any form of decay.

In our text, God gave four major steps that any nation can take in order to have a complete restoration. These four major steps are God’s expectations of His people that are called by His name in His nation.

Remember, “Judgment will begin from the church (the body of Christ).” This is why 2 Chro. 7:14 is directed to God’s people. The solution to the problem of this nation will come from the body of Christ. We are the light of this dark world. We are the salt of this bitter generation. We are the hope of this hopeless nation.

Since Nigeria got her independence, different Heads of state and Presidents have come and gone using different economic policies, but still things are getting worse.

God’s people are still praying day and night, but still economic depression and social decay are on the increase. The body of Christ in Nigeria has never prayed as much as we are doing now, but how come it seems like the heavens has been shut against this nation. Ps. 66:18 says, “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it can not save; nor His ear heavy, that He cannot hear but your iniquities have separated you form God and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear.” (Isa. 59:1-2)

The body of Christ is praying and fasting but we are yet to turn from our wicked ways. The people that were asked to turn from their wicked ways are people that are called by the name of the Lord. The world around us will not turn from their wicked ways, until we have turned. God’s people in this country must truly repent, before our nation can experience total restoration from social decay and economic depression. True repentance is not only in talking but also in turning. “He who covers his sins will not prospers but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy” (Prov. 28:13).

We have confessed our sins, but we are yet to forsake our wicked ways. If “Church people” can begin to live well, the world will soon be influenced by our good deeds.

Sometimes when our roads are blocked and you try to checkout the cause, you will be surprised that most of the cars that have caused the traffic jam have several stickers on their wheel screens. Can you imagine a man with the sticker that says, “I am not ashamed of the gospel” on his car committing traffic offence? He is already a shame to the gospel.

The answer to the problem of this nation is in the hands of God’s people but we must begin to live by examples. The future of this nation is in our hands.

I want to give credit to the former chairperson of NAFDAC. She got her past position as a result of her record of integrity. In the days of PTE, she worked with Gen. Buhari. According to her, she traveled for a surgical operation and the Federal Government gave her some thousands of pound sterling. Her doctors later discovered that a particular drug can cure her and she would not need to go through any operation.

As a result of this, she was left with twelve thousand pounds sterling, which her doctors asked her if she were ready to pocket and they would take their share if she cooperates. She refused and brought the money back to her boss (Gen. Buhari).

Somebody heard of this from Gen. Buhari and told the then president (Gen. Obasanjo); when he was looking for a man or a woman of integrity to sanitize NAFDAC.

Through out this woman’s tenure, many hidden thing were exposed and there was sanity in NAFDAC.

Some years back on NTA, the story of a young “Okada” man who took the N25, 000, which one of his passengers forgot on his motorbike, was told. He took the money to NTA office. Some days after, somebody gave this guy a new motorbike. He also received a new job in a bank and several thousands of naira. When he was trying to take the money to NTA some of his colleagues said he was a fool and he was never going to make it in life. But his story proves that “the reward of integrity outweighs that of corruption.”

It’s time for you to join this camp of new Nigerians. It’s time for you to cease from your wicked ways and together we will revolutionize this nation and save this country from economic depression and social decay.

I see God healing our land. I see God helping us to rebuild the wall of our nation that has been broken down by corruption, tribulation and injustice. I see the emergence of new Nigerians. I see Jesus becoming the Lord over the land.
